For ticket information, see BMW Championship tickets, and for directions to Bellerive, see BMW Championship travel.

The Bellerive Country Club first opened in 1897 as the Field Club, on land leased from the estate of Daniel Bissel. Originally, the Field Club course included only nine holes. In 1910, the club moved to the town of Normandy, where the course was expanded to include 18 holes. It was renamed the Bellerive Country Club, after the French governor Louis St. Ange de Bellerive.

In 1959, golf course designer Robert Trent Jones designed a new Bellerive course, located on 347 acres in suburban St Louis. A Georgian-style clubhouse was built, and the course opened in 1960. Since then, Bellerive has hosted PGA Tour events such as the Western Open, the 1965 US Open (won through a playoff by Gary Player), the inaugural US Mid-Amateur in 1981, the 1992 PGA Championship (won by Nick Price) and the 2004 United States Senior Open.

The BMW Championship Course

The par-71 Bellerive course is a long one, at 7,547 yards from the championship tees. It was designed around a large creek, and is known for its undulating and extremely large greens. Water comes into play on a total of 11 of its 18 holes.

In 2005 and 2006, the Bellerive course underwent $9.5 million renovation with the help of designer Rees Jones. Notable changes include those to holes 2, 7 and 8, which are now among the toughest holes on the course.

A total of six par-4 holes at Bellerive measure over 450 yards. The longest of these is the 10th hole at 519 yards, with a dogleg left around a bunker and a downhill slope toward the creek, which crosses the fairway around 30 yards from the green.

Don’t miss the action in September 2008 as the 70 top FedExCup players compete for victory at Bellerive.
