BMW Championship Betting

LEMONT, IL - SEPTEMBER 08: Tiger Woods hits his second shot from the first fairway during the third round of BMW Championship, the third event of the new PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club on September 8, 2007 in Lemont, Illinois. (Photo by Jeff Gross/Getty Images)As the PGA Tour season progresses, you can check updated FedExCup point standings on the PGA Tour’s web site. Currently in the top five positions are KJ Choi, Daniel Chopra, Steve Stricker – who was runner-up in the 2007 BMW Championship – Rory Sabbatini and Stephen Ames.

Tracking the FedExCup points’ distribution up to the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship in August will give you a good idea who the contenders will be at the BMW Championship, the third FedExCup playoff leading up to the Tour Championship in late September. Scanning the point rankings is also an easy way to identify the top PGA Tour golfers for the season.

In terms of BMW Championship betting, fans will be interested to see whether Phil Mickelson makes it to the tournament. After winning the 2007 Deutsche Bank Championship, Mickelson was considered one of the main opponents capable of taking on Tiger Woods – but he failed to play.

It’s probably safe to assume that Woods will be there to defend his title as the PGA Tour champion.

BMW Championship Betting Options

BMW Championship punters have lots of choices – from betting on the first nine or the last nine, to betting on places, individual rounds, or even on groups of players. You can choose to bet on whether one player will outscore another over one round (known as a two-ball bet) or on whether one player will outscore another two players over one round (known as a three-ball bet).

You can also choose to “bet each way” – a combination of betting to win and place betting. You pay the same stake for each part of the bet. For example, if you pay £1 each way for a player winning at 5/1, you would get £5 for the win plus £2.50 for the place. If the player does not win but finishes in a place, you win only the place bet.

Combination betting involves combining more than one type of bet, but you must win all the bets to win a payout. The payout is equal to all the individual odds multiplied.

Start considering your favourites for 2008 BMW Championship betting.
